Spay/Neuter Program
Spay of the Falls helps control pet over population by conducting spay/neuter clinics for those unable to afford it otherwise. Honorary co-chairs, John and Sue Ann Stephenson-Love have said, "The spaying and neutering of our pets is critical to a successful animal welfare program and the clinics have been a wonderful benefit for the animals and the public."
Volunteers are essential!
Spay/Neuter clinic coordinator, Gloria LaMott, reports the committee has a volunteer base of over 200 people. This huge undertaking could not happen without the support from the volunteers. They help remove pets from their vehicles, check them in, weigh them, assist in administering drugs, shave the animals, and sterilize the surgical equipment. Some volunteers assist vets during surgery, and they help the owners comfort their pets during the recovery period.
The spay/neuter clinics are available free for low income residents of Cascade County.
